I was born in London and raised in Nigeria & Malawi, where my father was working with snakes and tropical diseases. After school I moved to Bristol to study painting (BA hons Fine Art). Beginning my career making experimental Super8 films, I then moved into the film industry in the late 90’s, serving a six year apprenticeship as a camera assistant & focus puller, the discipline of which serves me well in the digital era. I am based in London and work all over the world.

I am interested in narrative & documentary storytelling and the often blurred spaces between the two. I fell into docs almost by accident on a BBC shoot across West Africa in 2002, and found a natural aptitude and love for it. Docs for me are about the process; the privileged access to a great diversity of people, places & experiences and the constantly changing demands of filming in real environments. Coming from a painter's background however, the quality of image is extremely important to me and I love the creativity in lighting. But no film is driven by images alone and you'd likely find me an editorially-driven DOP who loves to be involved in a project as early as possible. I try to bring a discerning eye to the chaos of shooting documentary, and immediacy & intuition to my narrative work. Whatever the label, I just want to make good films.
